10 minute timer
Ten minutes, preloaded. Long enough to mean it, short enough to start.
Guide
How to use it
- Press Start, 10:00 is already set.
- Leave the tab if you like, the title shows the countdown wherever you are.
- Use Full screen for a wall-clock sized display.
- Three beeps at zero, then Again restarts it in one tap.
Examples
What ten minutes is good for
Ten pages or ten minutes, whichever comes first. A visible countdown is the difference between intending to read and reading.
White rice simmers in 10 to 12 minutes. Start the timer when it hits a simmer and resist lifting the lid before the beep.
Eyes off the monitor, kettle on, shoulders down. Ten minutes away roughly each hour is the break optometrists and physios keep asking for.
Method
How it works
The page loads the full timer with 10:00 preset. Pressing start pins the finish to your device clock, so throttled background tabs and brief laptop sleeps cannot make it run long.
The alarm is synthesised in the browser at the moment it fires, the page makes no network requests while timing.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does it keep counting if I minimise the window?
Yes. The end time is fixed at start, and the tab title carries the countdown.
Can I chain ten-minute rounds?
Tap Again at zero. For structured work-and-break cycles the Pomodoro timer automates the alternation.
Can I change it to 15 minutes?
Yes, edit the minutes box or use the 15 minute preset, this page just saves you the typing for ten.
Will it drift over ten minutes?
No. It measures against the clock rather than counting ticks, ten minutes means ten minutes.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, yes. Nothing is fetched while the timer runs.
Why does audio sometimes need a click first?
Browsers block sound until you interact with a page. Pressing start counts as that interaction, so the alarm can always play.
