Case converter

Paste once, read every case at once, sentence, title, upper, lower and the programmer trio, each with its own copy button.

Guide

How to use it

  1. Paste or type your text, every case below updates live.
  2. Copy the one you need with its button.
  3. Title Case follows headline rules: small words like "of" and "the" stay lowercase unless they start or end the title.
  4. The programmer cases (camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case) strip punctuation and join the words, made for identifiers, not prose.

Examples

Which case, where

SENTENCE CASE

Ordinary prose and UK headings: first word capitalised, the rest lowercase except names. Most UK style guides, including gov.uk, prefer it for headlines too.

Title Case

US-style headlines and book titles: main words capitalised, small words not. "The Wind in the Willows", the "in" and "the" stay small.

snake_case

Database columns and Python variables. Its siblings: camelCase for JavaScript, kebab-case for URLs and CSS classes, pick per convention, not preference.

Method

How it works

Sentence case lowercases everything then capitalises sentence starts (after . ! ?) and the standalone "I". Title Case applies the AP-style small-word list, keeping first and last words capitalised regardless. The programmer cases split on whitespace, strip punctuation and rejoin with the relevant separator.

Conversion happens on every keystroke in your browser, paste a chapter and it keeps up.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does it fix ALL-CAPS text properly?

Yes, run caps-lock accidents through sentence case. Names lose their capitals too (the converter cannot know "smith" is a surname), skim afterwards.

Which small words stay lowercase in Title Case?

Articles, short conjunctions and short prepositions: a, an, the, and, but, or, of, in, on, to, for and similar. First and last words always capitalise.

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

The first letter: camelCase starts lowercase (variable names), PascalCase starts uppercase (class names). Both are here.

Why did my hyphens disappear in snake_case?

Programmer cases strip punctuation by design, "e-mail address" becomes email_address. That is what an identifier needs.

Is there a length limit?

Twenty thousand characters, several pages of text. Beyond that, convert in chunks.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No, every conversion runs in your browser.
