JPG to PNG converter
Drop JPGs, download PNGs, or aim the converter at any of the four common formats. Twenty files at a time, converted on your own device.
Guide
How to use it
- Drop up to 20 images in, JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Set Convert to: PNG is preselected for the classic JPG-to-PNG job.

Examples
When JPG to PNG makes sense
Upload forms that accept only PNG. The conversion is instant and lossless in the pixels, the file gets bigger, but the form stops complaining.
About to run a photo through many edits? Converting to PNG first stops quality eroding at every save, convert back to JPG once at the end.
Archiving a JPG as PNG freezes its current pixels exactly. It cannot restore quality already spent, but it stops any further loss.
Method
How it works
Each image decodes on your device, draws onto a canvas at native resolution, and re-encodes in the target format. To PNG the pixels are stored losslessly, to JPG or WebP your quality setting applies and, since JPG has no transparency, you choose what transparent areas become.
PNG files converted from JPGs are larger than their sources, that is PNG faithfully storing every pixel of an image JPEG had already simplified. It is the correct behaviour, not a bug.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does JPG to PNG improve quality?
No, compression damage is permanent. PNG prevents any further loss from future saves, which is the honest benefit.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
PNG stores photographs pixel-perfectly, which costs. For sharing photos, JPG or WebP remain the sensible containers.
Can I convert 20 files at once?
Yes, drop them all in. Each converts independently, so one odd file cannot break the batch.
What happens to transparency going to JPG?
JPG cannot store it, so you pick white or black fill before converting. Going to PNG or WebP, transparency survives untouched.
Do you support HEIC from iPhones?
On the HEIC page, yes, it loads a small decoder for Apple’s format. This page handles the formats browsers decode natively.
Are images uploaded to convert?
No. Decode, redraw and re-encode all happen in your browser, the batch never queues on a server.
