PNG to JPG converter
PNGs are heavy, JPGs travel. Convert in batches, choose what any transparency becomes, and watch photo files drop to a tenth.
Guide
How to use it
- Drop your PNGs in, JPG output is preselected.
- If any image has transparent areas, choose what they become, white suits documents, black suits dark artwork.
- Set quality: 90 keeps things pristine, 75 to 85 is the sharing range.
- Convert and download. Compare sizes in each row, photographic PNGs routinely shrink 80 to 95%.
Examples
Why this conversion pays
A photograph saved as PNG (a common export accident) converted at quality 90: visually identical, an order of magnitude lighter, attachable.
Text screenshots convert but JPG softens hard edges. If the words matter, keep PNG, if it is mostly imagery, quality 85 reads fine.
A logo PNG becomes a logo-on-white JPG, the fill you chose. If the destination needs transparency, it needs PNG or WebP, not JPG.
Method
How it works
Each PNG decodes to raw pixels, transparent areas composite onto your chosen background (JPG has no alpha channel), and the result encodes at your quality setting, all on your device.
The size win comes from JPEG’s lossy encoding being built for photographs. The trade is permanent: keep the PNG originals if you may edit again.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why does JPG need a background colour?
JPG simply has no concept of transparent pixels. Every pixel must be a colour, so the converter asks which one the see-through parts become.
How much smaller will my files get?
Photographic PNGs: typically 80 to 95% smaller at quality 85 to 90. Flat-colour graphics shrink less and may look worse, they were PNG’s home ground.
Which quality should I pick?
90 unless you have a reason: it is visually transparent for almost all content. 75 for web use where weight matters.
Will text stay sharp?
JPG blurs hard edges slightly by design. For screenshots of text or UI, PNG remains the right format, convert the photos, keep the screenshots.
Can I convert back later?
You can re-container it as PNG any time, but JPEG’s quality loss is baked in. Archive originals before converting.
Batch limit?
Twenty per pass, each processed independently on your machine.
