Circle crop

A round crop with transparent corners, so it stays round wherever you put it. Frame the face, download the PNG.

Guide

How to use it

  1. Drop your image in, the selection is locked to a circle.
  2. Drag the circle over the subject, resize from the corners. Faces want a little air above the head.
  3. Tap Crop to circle and download the PNG.
  4. Upload it anywhere, the corners are transparent, so it sits cleanly on any background.

Examples

Where circles matter

AVATARS

Most platforms crop your square upload to a circle themselves, and they centre it bluntly. Cropping the circle yourself decides what survives, your framing, not their midpoint.

TEAM PAGES

A row of circle headshots only looks tidy if every face sits identically in its circle. Same zoom, eyes at the same height, this tool makes that repeatable.

STICKERS + LOGOS

A circular logo with true transparency drops onto documents and dark headers without the white box that betrays a rectangle pretending.

Method

How it works

The circular region is clipped on a canvas and exported as a PNG with an alpha channel, the corners are genuinely transparent pixels, not white. That is why the output format is fixed: JPG has no transparency and would fill the corners back in.

Pixels inside the circle are copied at original resolution. Framing is yours: the tool clips, it does not auto-detect faces, which is a feature when the subject is a dog, a logo or two people.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why is the download always PNG?

Only PNG (of the widely supported formats) carries transparency. A circle in JPG would sit on a white square, defeating the point.

Will it stay a circle on WhatsApp / Slack / Teams?

Platforms that show round avatars will show yours as you framed it. Platforms that show squares will show your circle on transparency, still tidy.

My circle has jagged edges, why?

Cropping from a very small original leaves few pixels on the curve. Start from the largest copy of the photo you have, the edge is anti-aliased at native resolution.

Can I add a border ring?

Not here, deliberately. Most platforms draw their own ring, and stacked rings look like a dartboard.

Can I do a circle from a screenshot?

Yes, any JPG, PNG or WebP works as input.

Is my photo uploaded?

No, the clip happens in your browser. Profile photos are personal, they stay on your machine.
