Free QR code generator, no sign-up

No account, no 14 day trial, no watermark and no code that dies a month after you print 500 leaflets. Static codes, made in your browser, yours forever.

Guide

How to use it

  1. Pick a type and fill in your content. The code appears instantly, already yours.
  2. Test it with your phone camera straight off the preview.
  3. Download PNG or SVG. No email gate, no watermark on the file.
  4. Print as many as you like. There is nothing to renew and nobody to pay.

The catch, explained

Why other free QR codes expire

Most QR sites give you a dynamic code: a short link through their server that redirects to your destination. That is what makes the free trial possible, and what makes the code stop working when the trial ends. The pattern you printed points at their server, not at your content.

This generator makes static codes. Your link or text is encoded directly into the pattern, so there is nothing to expire, nothing to track and nothing to pay for. The trade-off is honest: you cannot change the destination after printing and you get no scan counts. If you need either, encode a link to a page you control and edit that page instead.

Examples

Worked examples

The reprinted flyer

A village fete prints 300 flyers with a code from a trial account. It dies two weeks before the event. Remade here as a static code, the same artwork works every year.

The changing menu

Encode yourcafe.co.uk/menu rather than a PDF link. The code never changes, you just update the menu page behind it.

Product packaging

A static code to your instructions page costs nothing per unit at any volume. A dynamic service charging monthly would bill you for the life of the product.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why did my QR code from another site stop working?

It was a dynamic code: a short redirect link through that company's server, free during a trial. When the trial ended they switched the redirect off. The printed code was never yours, it pointed at them.

Will these codes ever expire?

No. These are static codes, your content is encoded directly into the pattern. There is no server in the middle to switch anything off, so the code works as long as its content is valid.

Is there a scan limit or watermark?

No limit and no watermark. A static code is just data, it cannot count scans and nobody can stamp branding on it after the fact.

Can I use the codes commercially?

Yes. Print them on packaging, posters, menus and products freely. The codes you generate are yours.

What do I give up compared with a paid dynamic code?

Two things: scan analytics and the ability to change the destination after printing. If you need those, link the code to a page you control and change that page instead.

Do I need an account for anything here?

No. Nothing on this site has an account, and the generator works entirely in your browser.

Error correction

Higher error correction survives smudges and logos, but fits less data.

Fill in the field to generate your code.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server, and these codes never expire.
