Screen recorder

Record a tab, a window or the whole screen, with your voice over it if you want, and download the file straight from your browser’s memory. Nothing uploads anywhere at any point.

Guide

How to use it

  1. Tick Include microphone if you are narrating, the browser will ask permission once.
  2. Press Start recording and choose what to share: this tab, another window or the entire screen. Tick "share tab audio" in that dialog if the tab’s sound matters.
  3. Do the thing. Pause and resume freely, paused time costs nothing.
  4. Press Stop and save (or end the share from the browser’s own bar). Preview the result and download the WebM.

Examples

Recordings this handles well

BUG REPORT

Thirty seconds of "click here, watch it break" replaces three paragraphs of description. Record the tab, download, drag into the ticket.

HOW-TO FOR A COLLEAGUE

Window capture plus mic narration: "this is where the export button hides". Two minutes recorded beats twenty minutes of screen-sharing diary tetris.

DEMO WITH SOUND

Recording a tab with "share tab audio" ticked captures the app’s own sounds cleanly, no microphone echo, no keyboard clatter.

Method

How it works

The browser’s own capture APIs do the work: getDisplayMedia for the screen pixels, getUserMedia for the mic, mixed together where both are present, and MediaRecorder encodes WebM (VP9 where supported) in memory as you record.

The differentiators are structural, not generous: there is no upload because there is no server, no watermark because nothing re-processes your video, and no time limit beyond your machine’s memory, which comfortably holds an hour-plus of typical screen content.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why WebM and not MP4?

WebM is what browsers can encode natively. It plays everywhere modern and imports into editors, if legacy software insists on MP4, HandBrake converts locally in a minute.

Does it record system audio?

Tab audio yes (tick the option in the share dialog), full system audio depends on platform, Windows Chrome offers it for screen shares, macOS does not without extra software. Mic narration works everywhere.

Is there really no time limit?

None imposed. Practically, memory is the ceiling: roughly a few hundred MB per half hour at typical settings, fine on any modern machine, worth chunking beyond an hour.

Can I record on a phone?

Mostly no, mobile browsers do not expose screen capture. Phones have built-in screen recorders in their quick settings, use those.

Where does the recording live while I record?

In the tab’s memory. Closing the tab mid-recording discards it, stop and download first.

Will people know I am recording?

On your own screen, the browser shows a persistent indicator. What this page never does is watermark, phone home or add accounts, the recording is simply yours.
