Wheel spinner
Type your options, spin the wheel, argue with the result if you dare. The winner is chosen with cryptographic randomness, the spin is just the ceremony.
Guide
How to use it
- Type your entries in the box, one per line, up to 40. The wheel redraws as you type.
- Tap Spin the wheel and let it run down, about four seconds.
- The winning segment lights up and the winner is announced.
- For elimination rounds, tap Remove winner and keep going between spins.
- Share the wheel by copying the page address, your entries travel in the link itself, not through any server.
Examples
Wheels people actually spin
The default entries. Six cuisines, zero debate, the wheel has decided and the wheel is impartial.
Everyone’s name on the wheel, one spin per chore, remove each winner so nobody draws twice. Grievances go to the random number gods.
Paste your entrants (one per line), spin once, screenshot the announcement. The remove-winner button then draws clean runner-up prizes.
Method
How it works
The winner is decided before the wheel moves: one draw from the browser’s cryptographic generator picks the segment, then the animation is aimed to land exactly there, with an ease-out curve so it slows like a real wheel. Watching the spin is theatre, the fairness happened at the click.
Your entries are saved into the page address after the # symbol, which browsers never send to servers, so a shared wheel link carries the list privately. If motion makes you queasy, reduced-motion settings skip the animation and jump to the result.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is the wheel actually fair?
Yes. Every entry occupies an equal segment and the winning segment is drawn uniformly with crypto.getRandomValues before the animation begins.
Can I weight some entries higher?
Add the same entry on multiple lines, two lines means double the chance, and the wheel shows both segments honestly.
How do I share a wheel?
Copy the page URL after editing the entries, the list is encoded after the # and rebuilds the wheel for whoever opens it. Nothing is stored on a server.
How many entries fit?
Forty. Past that, segment labels stop being readable, for bigger draws use the random number generator against a numbered list.
Does the spin length change the odds?
No. The result is fixed at the click, the wheel simply travels a random-looking distance to reach it.
Can I rig it for fun?
No hidden nudge exists to rig, if you need a fixed outcome, write the same word on every line and enjoy the suspense.
Why did my wheel reset?
Entries live in the URL. If the address was trimmed when shared (some apps cut long links), the wheel falls back to its defaults.
